RECAP : Nov 19 - Nov 25

Monday - 11/19/12

Pineridge - 34:55

Easy run from Maxwell.

Tuesday - 11/20/12

33:50 Foothills Trail (short loop)

Easy run after work starting from Maxwell TH.

Wednesday - 11/21/12

Towers Road - 1 hr 19 minutes

Got a call from Steve the other day asking if I would be interested in joining him and a local high school track  runner whom he is coaching (I believe his name was Matt), for a mid week shuffle up Towers.  I haven't ran up Towers in a really long time, and so I definitely was up for it.
The pace and effort would be slow, as this was Matts first ever grunt up the hill.  Which was okay with me as an easy early morning run sounded like a great way to start out the day.

I stopped a few times to take some pictures:

Near Towers/Loggers intersection

Matt on Left - Steve on Right...grunting their way up!

Foco - Looking East

Longs Peak from the summit

Made it to the summit in a very casual 48 minutes.  Chatted for a few minutes and then headed back down.

Great way to start out the day!

Thursday - 11/22/12 (Thanksgiving and Eliana's Birthday!)

OFF - sick.  I have had a stomach bug on and off for about a week. Today was one of those days. Which was a bummer because we were hosting about 25 friends and family at our place for Thanksgiving dinner....AND today was also Eliana's 2nd birthday!  I tried to be social and have a good time, but my stomach was not feeling it at all.  Didnt eat much and tried to enjoy Eliana's Birthday time the best I could.
I originally was planning to run the Fort Collins Thanksgiving Day 4 mile Run --- but with how I was feeling, that was out of the question from the moment I woke up. Spent the entire day with close friends and family celebrating what we were thankful for and celebrating Eli's 2nd birthday.

Time to open birthday presents!

Already loving her new boots!

I am thankful for this beautiful little girl!
Didnt quite feel up for a run today, but time with family and friends and watching our little girl grow up was more than worth the time spent at home.

Friday - 11/23/12

Pineridge - 41:18

Started from the dog park and ran one lap around Pineridge.  Stomach felt better today. Not all the way --- but was able to handle an easy shuffle effort.

Saturday - 11/24/12

Horsetooth Mtn park - 1 hr 26 minutes

Workout went like this:
Horsetooth Liquor store > Main TH > South Ridge > Rock trail > Westridge > Towers > Herrington > Spring Creek > Soderberg > South Ridge > Main TH > back to truck at liquor store

Felt good to get back up the Horsetooth Mtn Park for the second time this week.  Trails were packed, and the parking lot was full. Pretty crazy for this time of year. But the weather was in the 60's and it was a beautiful day to be out and about.
Easy effort for the most part...slightly over dressed and removed my hat and gloves a few miles into the run. Stomach feels better today.

Sunday - 11/25/12

Pineridge - 42:10

Started from the dog park and ran one lap around Pineridge. Easy effort

----------------------------------------------------------------

- This was a pretty busy week -- outside of work.  Having a stomach bug on and off for the week and having to prep food for 25 people at Thanksgiving and planning Eli's birthday was a lot.

- Bummed that I wasnt feeling good on Thanksgiving, but ohh well -- next year!

- I was looking forward to running the Thanksgiving day 4 miler....but that too will have to wait until next year.

- First time since the summer that I made up to Horsetooth twice in the same week, and it felt great to get in that extra vertical.

- Once I figure out what keeps upsetting my stomach I plan to get back into a regular routine, which includes  easy long runs, and as much vertical as I can get in during these winter months.

- Up next....el Chubbo Cheeks Grande!?! (maybe?) on December 8th.  I have been looking forward to running this laid back "group" run with the Fort Collins and Boulder trail runners for awhile now.  There will be 3 different distances to choose from: a half marathon, marathon and 32 miler.  All through the hills in Horsetooth Mtn Park and Lory ---- fun times!  I haven't run nearly as many long runs as I would have liked leading up to this, so taking on the 32 miler ( my preferred choice) might be out of the question, so I will play by ear and see how I feel on December 8th.
